Red Flags

Are you worried about someone in your life may be in danger? This list of red flags may be helpful.

·         Is not free to come or go as he/she wishes
·         
Is fearful, anxious, depressed, submissive, tense, or nervous/ paranoid
·         Exhibits unusually fearful or anxious behavior after bringing up law enforcement
·         
Avoids eye contact
·         
Shows signs of physical and/or sexual abuse (burn marks, bruises, or cuts)
·         
Has few or no personal possessions or has an abundant amount
·         
Is not in control of  her own money, no financial records, or bank account
·         
Is not in control of his or her own identification document (ID or passports)
·         
Is not allowed  to speak for themselves (a third party may insist on being present and/or translating)
·         Unexplained absences from class/truancy
·         Less appropriately dressed then before or overdressed (long sleeves in summer)
·         Overly sexualized behavior
·         Overly tired, distracted or checked out
·         Brags about having lots of money, expensive clothes, accessories or shoes
·         New tattoo or will only wear certain colors (gang activity)
·         In a relationship (or appears to be) with a much older person
·         Talks about wild parties or invite peers to go
·         Exhibits drug use
·         Gives inconsistent stories
